Materials and care
What it's made of and what to do with it next
Solid wood furniture outlives a renovation if you know a few simple things about it. Expand the material — inside is a short care guide.
A dense wood species with a pronounced grain pattern. Over the years it darkens to a warm honey tone — that's the natural behavior of the wood, not a defect.
- Daily
- A dry or slightly damp soft cloth, along the grain.
- Once a year
- A thin layer of oil-wax on a degreased surface, wipe off the excess after 15 minutes.
- Avoid
- Placing hot items without a coaster and leaving standing water on the surface.
Lighter and springier than oak, which is why it's used for curved backrests and slim frames. The grain is calmer, and the room feels more spacious.
- Daily
- A dry cloth; for stains — soapy water, then dry right away.
- Once a year
- Refresh the oil on work surfaces: tabletops, armrests.
- Avoid
- Keeping right next to a radiator — dries unevenly.
Breathes, doesn't build up static, gets softer over time. The covers are removable — that's the main reason a light-colored sofa is even possible in a home with kids.
- Daily
- Vacuum with a soft brush attachment once a week.
- Washing
- Delicate, 30°, no bleach; put on slightly damp.
- Avoid
- Drying in the sun — light linen fades in patches.
Warm to the touch and resistant to abrasion. In the first few weeks it may shed some fluff — that's the short undercoat settling, then it passes.
- Daily
- Light brushing, vacuum without a turbo brush.
- Stains
- Blot, don't rub; use room-temperature water.
- Avoid
- Hot water and steam — wool shrinks irreversibly.
Powder-coated in matte graphite or sand. Our metal holds the structure but is deliberately kept out of sight.
- Daily
- A dry cloth, to avoid leaving marks.
- Once a season
- Tighten the fittings with the included hex key.
- Avoid
- Abrasive sponges — buff the matte coating to a shine.
